I know I haven’t been keeping up with this blog as well as I should be, and I mean to change that. I thought I would start up again with my latest addiction. Star Trek.
Now, I’ve seen Star Trek before, but I’ve never watched the entire series. Last July, Netflix started streaming all five series from the Star Trek universe. I knew that I wanted to watch them all, but never got around to it until recently. It’s scary how fast I’ve been going through them. Since April, I’ve watched the original series, The Animated Series, and up to five seasons of the The Next Generation. That’s 202 episodes in 2 months. That’s an average of 3 episodes a day. Dear God, I need to get a life.
I still need to watch the movies, but those aren’t on Netflix, and I’m lazy about finding them on the internet.
Since I’m on Season 5 of The Next Generation already, it is hard to go back and give good details on specific episodes or feelings I had about the original series. I did, however, go back and look at text messages, Tweets, and photos I took around the time I watched it.
Today I present to you the first holiday mix I made from 2006. It may be my favorite of the mixes. This was the year I decided to give into Christmas and the winter season. Instead of being grumpy all the time and hating on Christmas songs everywhere I went, I decided to find my own style of music and found the wonder in songs that aren’t necessarily “holiday” music, but have that great wintery feeling to them. I also spent hours digging through my record collection searching for songs with certain words in the title. I have such a variety of records that sometimes I don’t even know what is on them, I just bought them for the cover (see Harmonicats). I miss doing such things. I now go through the same practice, but on the computer via Google. It’s not quite the same feeling.
It should also be said that, although I’m agnostic, songs about God/Jesus fascinate and crack me up.
I’m also a big lover of Doris Day, so just deal with it.
Anyways, you can get the playlist here (they may not transfer into iTunes in the right order – I don’t know why). I hope you enjoy.
I also found some videos for a couple of the songs. Enjoy…
Maybe it’s that I attended my first holiday party of the season last night, or maybe it’s that it is finally starting to get really cold here in New York. Maybe it’s just because I’ve been listening to holiday music at work for 3 days straight now, but I’m really getting into Christmas right about now. I wake up with Jingle Bells in my head. (Seriously, I do. It scares me a little)
I used to be the queen of the holiday mix cd. I started doing them in 2006, and did one every year until 2008. After that I started slipping on the mixes. Between money issues and losing beloved pets, I put off doing the mixes till it was just too late to get anything done.
Well, I’m back! While I put together a new mix for this year, I thought I would do a couple of posts featuring my old mixes. Unfortunately, my computer crashed not too long ago so I lost all the awesome art work that I did for them, but I still have the music. Click this link for my 2007 mix (tracklist is at the bottom of the page).
Now, I know this is a blog about what I’m watching. Listening to this old mix got me curious to see if I could find videos to any of these songs. Here are a few highlights.
Check out the hair!!
My cat really liked this video. He kept pawing the screen.

My second day of ComicCon started off with a dilemma. Do I go see Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible, The Guild), or do I go see Jane Espenson? Espenson has written/produced so many of my favorite shows, it would be hard to list them all (Buffy, Torchwood, Battleship Galatica to name a few). I was very mad at Comic Con for having these two panels at the same time. With such few female themed panels, why put two of them against each other?
I feel like I’ve watched a dozen different cat videos today. I’m not complaining, I’m just letting you know how sad my life is sometimes. (I don’t really think it is sad to watch cat videos all day. If anything they make you happier!)
Here are a few of the gems that I watched.
How awesome is that Skittles commercial? Featured cats, furries, and candy. Mmmm…I love Skittles.
Fun Wendy fact – Every time I get sick, my cure-all is to stay in bed watching Buffy, eating Skittles, and drinking cranberry juice. I always feel better then next day. It’s a magical combo.
Yes, this is old, but someone posted it to my wall today on Facebook and I rewatched it. It’s worth the rewatch for all the adorable cat cameos.
Kitty wants to be Michael Jordan when he grows up.
I’m not sure what I just watched, but I was in full on Anderson Cooper style giggle mode by the end of it.
Once again, I would like to thank Catsparella for all things kitty.
New York Comic Con (NYCC) is officially over. It has taken me a few days to adjust back to normal life; going back to my lame job. (…and seriously, I slept about 12 hours on Sunday, I was that exhausted) All said and done, I think this may have been my favorite year at NYCC. Maybe it was just because I actually able to meet up with friends and have social interaction at it, but it just seemed smoother to me. Sure there were panels I didn’t get into to, but I explored and saw more this year than I had on previous years. I bought lots of stuff, and took lots of business cards. I’ll be doing little recaps of each day, and I’ll try to pack in all the goodies I saw. Shall we get started?
